The new academic year is now well underway and work on the campus developments has also begun in earnest.
Where once stood farm buildings and staff car parks there are now vast open spaces where contractors have begun work on both the new Learning Resource Centre and the new Equine Indoor Arena.
The steel bodywork of the arena is currently being erected and it’s amazing to see just how big this building really is.
The College’s sports facilities have also undergone major refurbishment and are now open to staff and students with brand new, state-of-the-art gym equipment, x-bikes and a host of fitness classes for all abilities.
The design for the new sports academy building is taking shape and includes a multi-function sports hall with viewing gallery, aerobics/dance studio, gymnasium and spa facilities.
Construction work is due to begin in July 2008.
The new entrance onto the main road has been completed and is currently being used for construction traffic only until next summer.
Good progress is being made on the internal access roads, which are also in use for some vehicles.
New equine facilities have been opened, including a new stabling block for 80 horses and a new practical unit in the former beef barn.
The new student car park is underway along with the new student residential accommodation, where block walls are currently being built.
